  •  Jr. Bush is a LIAR and a WAR CRIMINAL (13+ / 0-)

and more of what comes out of his mouth than not are boldfaced propagandistic lies.

    Of course Iraq isn't WWII.

But WWII is the only modern War that has any real honor.

And Jr.'s Iraq War is the least honorable War in the History of the United States. It's not even a legal War.

Our President actually LIED about the reasons we went to war, from almost every single possible angle.

Jr. Bush is a WAR CRIMINAL. His speeches aren't even an issue anymore.

    •  Not quite (3+ / 0-)

The war against Mexico, in the 1840's, was our least honorable war. Because we had already infiltrated the SouthWest with people who we knew would fight for us, and because it gave us immediate (and, we knew, thanks to the infiltrators) permanent ownership. I will agree that this is our absolutely stupidest war ever.

      •  War with Mexico ranks with War of 1812. (2+ / 0-)

Both were land grabs.  We trumped up reasons to go to war with the Brits--impressed seamen (yes seamen), my ass.  We were intent on occupying the Old Northwest (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan) and invading Canada (at which we failed miserably).  We did overthrow the British alliance with the tribal nations and occupied the tribal lands.  So even though we were whipped in Canada, eh?  We expanded our nation's boundaries at the natives' expense.  We provoked/staged a battle to go to war against Mexico. The Mexican Southwest was phase II.  Also successful.  "Mr. James K. Polk, our eleventh president." [musical allusion.]  Seems like this Administration thinks it shares a continent with Iraq.  We can rid the area of the natives and maybe have a 52nd state.  Is Iraq the size of Texas?  Will Haliburton be supplying the colonists?

Last Stand? Not quite ready for that, SIR!

I have a book around here on the politics behind the war of 1812. Eerie parallels to the politics behind the  current fiasco.
