    but it was well worth it.

    Might I add the one parallel not mentioned here: We've completely misread both situations as insurgencies when in fact they are civil wars.  Communism might have been Ho Chi Minh's ideology, but it wasn't the reason he was fighting the war.  They were fighting over who would control that nation.

    That's the same thing in Iraq.  It's a fight for power, not for ideology.  Yet Bush has made the Iraqi insurgents into Islamofascists that they are not.

    It constantly amazes me how the next guy thinks he can overcome the same hurdles that stopped the ten before him because he or she is supposedly smarter.
