  •  WHY (6+ / 0-)

don't people listen more closely, then?  That's not a real question - just a semi-rant.  He is a mouthpiece for the real folks doing real military work and he repeatedly says that the military is in big trouble.  It doens't take a big imagination to believe that some number of those American soldiers killed in the middle east were victims of bad planning, shrinking numbers, bad/insufficient equipment, etc.  You'd think people would be in the streets over this, and especially those who are military family members.

... I don't know.   I do thing about it, though.  Any ideas?

The Bush Administration has allowed people to be killed under false pretense and for ignoble reasons.  I know no better definition of heinous.

with a many-faceted answer.  One thing that springs to mind is the fact that Dems don't get behind statements such as Murtha's when originally made... It's kind of like a group-think thing where people say to themselves, "Gee - if even the nutty Democrats aren't standing behind this guy, he must be wrong."

Sadly, I think it will take something dramatic to really grab the public’s attention. The loss of Anbar has not worked.  Mass resignations?  The loss of the Green Zone?  Major attack on Green Zone?  Iraq inviting Iran in to help quell the violence?

Whatever it is, the straw that breaks the camels back is not likely to be pretty. Even though a majority of America’s don’t support stay the course, there is not yet a ground swell questioning what happen to our military.

Do the right thing 'casue it feels better.

that the meeting between Iraqi and Iranian leaders was a harbinger to your question above... And a major blog of egg on Bush's face.  Yet it hasn't gotten much attention - and with the shootings in Canada and the Chicago hostage situation, it isn't likely to.

There's only one reason people aren't listening:

        He's a Democrat.

The media has so poisoned the airwaves, newspapers, news magazines, and Internets about Democrats that people distrust us until proven innocent...er, correct.

We SO need to win and break up the media conglomerates. My B.A. is in journalism and it embarrasses me daily to admit that.

Stupid people listen to Bush and Rummy, and they believe Bush when he says stuff like this:

People don't want me making decisions based on politics.  They want me making decisions based on the recommendations of our generals on the ground. And that's exactly who I'll be listening to.

Pumped and ready for "the rough and tumble competition of the memetic marketplace."
