    ...would make it imposssible for the problem to be ignored. Hell, Republicans might have to start worrying that it could be used against them. Mainly, though, it would take this out of the realm of the theoretical. If anyone with access to a computer could get software to alter votes, no one would trust the machines and they would basically be rendered useless.

      then I think the next step is for some enterprising patriot to rig two elections in 2006. The first one should be to give a landslide victory to a minor third party candidate and the second one should be to give a narrow victory in a race so that no one can guess which race it is. The culprit will then tell the press that they have to either try to guess which other race was rigged or demand hand recounts in all of the districts with electronic voting machines. Illegal? Of course, but so was throwing a bunch of tea into Boston harbor?
