But who the hell would want an MBA? What's the point of such a bullshit degree? Why would anyone attend university, the repository of human knowledge, a place where you could unlock the secrets of thought, consciousness, reality itself, and choose to obtain a cheap and base MBA? The reason is simple: money.

You get an MBA because you think it will solidify your place in the marketplace of labor. Nothing wrong with that, but don't even try to claim that an MBA will make you a better person: The MBA is a tool designed to reward the holder with cash. It does not have an underpinning of philosophy or ethics or literature. It's a vocational degree, intended for rapid hiring and high initial salary. Again, nothing wrong with that, but don't hold it up as anything but that.

All you need is your bona-fides as a wingnut first class- preferably raised up through the POD ranks as cadre trained YR- and nothing else. It is the politicization of everything and all that really is needed is a willingness to sell out your country for the benefit of the "party" and the oligarchs who pull the strings. In other words, engaging in teason in not  problem for you.

As for MBA's- there WAS nothing wrong with that until the Wharton School and Harvard to a lesser degree decided "Business Administration" would henceforth be conducted as the Mafia conducts a busines "bust out". Drain the comapany of every penny of its assets and administer them directly into yours and the major stock holders' pockets.

Business is not to make anything, not to serve the public, workers are a liability and must be paid as little as possible while their responsibilities are increased exponentially to cover all the work once done by the legions that have been fired to remain "competitive". When you've bankrupted your company completely, sell off its hardware to China.

This has been done countless times since the "greed is good" 80's and continues. The manufacturing base is gone, the middle class is on life support and you and your MBA buddies have all you need and happily retire leaving the country to the tender mercies of the Oligarchy who continue to consolidate hard and soft assets under their control.

There has been treason afoot in this country for a very long time. The top business schools play no small part in it.

about everyone who has an advanced degree - doctors, engineers, scientists?

The MBA is a tool designed to reward the holder with cash.

There are a lot of people with MBAs who use them to actually benefit society.  Shouldn't lump all people with MBAs in the same bucket any more than you should dump all blacks, hispanics, Muslims, Arabs, Jews, et al into "their" respective baskets.

I'll remember your comment the next time Kos and candidates ask for cash or even volunteer time from me.

You may be right about the majority of them, I don't know.  But not all of them.

I happen to know an American M.D., Family Practice, who was aghast at the so-called health care system.  He got an MBA, then ran a small clinic to the benefit of the patients.  He wanted to try to make a bigger difference and took a 3-year position as director of a very large system, but had to give up trying to humanize it.  Ended up with an ordinary 9-5 job doctoring for the military.

OK, I'll relent. I'm sure there are a few people out there who stride off to college, head held high, breathing deeply of the morning air.

As they pass through the hallowed gates of the academy, they are excited and filled with pride to be on their way to obtaining a Masters in Business Administration. And they'll go on to do brave and wonderful things in the service of mankind. Just because I've never met such a person gives me no right to claim that none exist and you're quite right to take me to task for it.
