This is excellent!  You are undoubtably a wonderful teacher.. and love learning as well...

The quality of true dreaming is that it heals brings integrity to the parts of mind splintered against the rush of knowledge coming at us in ever increasing volicities..

Last night I dreamed I walked up a hill to an alley. I  stopped and watched people watching a building being torn down... They were excited and enthralled and a large crowd was very close to the work.  Only a few other people were in the alley with me.  Then I saw the wrecking ball swinging toward the alley and yelled a warning to some teenages.. One girl was barely brushed by the wrecking ball, against her head but was unhurt...
She grinned at me, and turned back to watch the wrecking,  while I retreated deeper into the alley self perservation,  realizing the heavy equipment operator was trying to get enough swing to do his work... because of the crowd, the only relatively free space was the alley.
I called to the girl and the other couple of people close to the front that the wrecking ball was coming  back... and they ignored me...and the ball came back.

Then I was wrapped in a soft blanket and Oprah was there holding onto to my shoulders and asking if I was alright..  I was very surprised and full of joy!  I said "Oprah!" and she hugged me.  Then I said in wonder "A hug from Oprah!" into which I melted warmly.  She told me to come out of my blanket.
    Then I woke up...
The dream was longer then that. but the earlier images and sensations dissipated already.. I've never dreamed with Oprah as a character in one  before...It's a puzzle because I don't watch her very often, but for some reason she was there in my dreams last night...

...anything more than vagueness about the theme of my dreams.  I know a substantial portion of the dreams of my life might have provided a Dahlgrenesque post-apocalyptic novel if they had been recorded.

      •  I go through periods of crystal clear being there (5+ / 0-)

dreams and periods of not remember them at all...

Here's a poem I wrote years ago, that include images I recalled from many different dreams:

        REM

        Dream's half life
        rapidly retreat
        behind blanketed remembrances.

        Shape changing
        archetypes
        motivate
        eradicate reason's responses.

        Within Fantastic architecture,
        transversing imaginations' landscapes:

        Frightened maidens of stealth,
        Pacific tutors of strength,
        Rapacious males of chase,
        Gloaming relations of prophesy,
        Comely monsters of fascination

Flee, or fight, or leave behind,
trudge a red dust road to flight,
Cross a tarmac to the sea,
        Stand before a water wall,
Reach and stroke an orca's side

        Whose wild cry
        warns of mind
the danger of losing a hand.

Thank you.  I've recognized that someday I'm going to have to draw on my dream images for source material for my poetry.  I will try my darnedest to forget your images before I do so.  That's not always easy since I have somewhat of a photographic memory.

a photographic memory fills up your mind!

I used to have an astounding memory ... got a little brain damaged over the years..
my short term memory frankly sucks these days..

(But has gotten better with fish oil treatments)

No wonder you don't recall your dreams much...
you'd probably be in a dream state most of the time. Dreams are a rich resource for poetry... Dream images are already integrations, synergies of experience, thought and feelings....

...was cool when I was young and taking tests.  I could just picture the page the material was on and read it again in my mind.  I wouldn't always remember the entire page, but generally enough of it to remember what was said.

As I have grown older, I have discovered the downside:  one doesn't always believe that what one has said or written is original.  At least one suspects that one must have heard or read something someplace along the way.

but then what is original?  The putting together from materials available of something that appears unique...
Ultimately what may make it our own, is our energy tranforming into something that bears a signature of recognition... or the joy of comprehension.
