    like the concept of race (IMO) it exists and functions as social-construction.

    Maybe it's not definite, final or locatable but it lives in the mind.  Maybe it lives in that space where we create dreams (illusions (?)) of home and identity ...

    And maybe people want to belong in that center - like how most Americans believe themselves to be middle class even as the disparity of income/wealth is increasing.
