I was reading a story last night in my daughter's reading book.  I don't remember the title, but it was letters between Rosa Parks and children.  It got me thinking about what happened yesterday.  It is awful.  It is reprehesible.  But, we have had a lot of dark times on our history and we have overcome them!

A Susan pointed out, woman could not vote.  Black people had to sit at the back of the bus and use separate drinking fountains and lunch counters.  Children worked in sweatshops.  Human beings owned other human beings.  All awful.  All reprehensible.  But people like us rose up and said enough, this is not right.  We can, we will, we must, do that again!

I was thinking about Rosa last night and how her courageous stand spawned a civil movement.  African-Americans feared for their lives in stepping over the color barriers in this country, but they did it.  We're not there yet.  I've wondered how far the powers in control will go to stop us.  Sounds like 1984 revisited, but we may be back to the sixties again soon.  I'm 54, and it seems like deja vu.  But I'm ready to march.
