"not to mention a congressman known to be gay"

In fact, Foley was not "known" to be gay. There were rumors. But the Herald never reported that Foley was gay, even though that would certainly be important news to their readers in Foley's district. When they got corroboration of those rumors in these Foley messages suggesting he's not so much gay, as a child page molester, they ignored the corroboration, rather than investigating enough to finally report it.

But the really damning evidence is that they're toeing the Republican line that "we hushed it up to protect a gay person". That's not only ridiculous, it is so ridiculous that only people who are getting their talking points from Rove could repeat it. They are clearly part of the conspiracy to help Foley molest pages by killing the story it's their responsiblity to report, just like Hastert.

Exactly, when did the Herald ever state that he was gay?   When did Foley ever come out?

And as for the fact that they are stating that covered it up to protect him because he was gay, only shows that they truly believe there is something wrong with being gay.  Otherwise, they would have treated this like any other possible sex scandal.

I mean, did the right wing media wait until the body of Shandra Levy was found before accusing Gary Condit of something?
