Hunter's house (and guesthouse) should have been re-assessed.....

Hunter is cheating on his taxes; no ifs, ands or buts about it.

San Diego has been rocked by financial scandal after financial scandal--beyond Duke Cunningham.  The former Mayor is trouble, and city is basically bankrupt. The people in San Diego may not be all that happy with another tax cheat.

At the very least, make Hunter defend his actions and actually defend his seat.

      a lot

How do you know a Republican is lying? Ask one: If the Republicans can lower gas prices for 60 days before an election, why won't they do it all the time?

Is Hunter legally obligated to inform the government that it has made a mistake in his tax assessment?

If not, then this issue is not going to alienate the conservative anti-tax voters who comprise the majority of his district.

to sign documents and send them into the County Assessor.  After one obtains a building permit here in California, a tax assessor conducts an inspection of the improvements.  At that time, the assessor asks questions about the improvements--which the homeowner is obligated to answer truthfully.

So, it would be highly unlikley that the tax assessor would on his own make a mistake as to the square footage of the new building.

The San Diego paper would not go after this if they didn't have good reason--it is not a Democratic paper.
