I'm putting my naivete out here for all the blogosphere to see.

The number doesn't mean anything to me.

      probably, but just in case

for reasons i dont know, because there are conflicting sources and accounts, the number '420' has taken on a vague significance to the weed community. in short, 420 can almost be considered a substitute for cannabis.

i wont get into details, because i dont want to 'out' many ppl on the web who have already implicitly 'outed' themsevles by their flagrant use of '420'

ill just say this much: in many online forums, ppl can get away with substituting references to cannabis by only using those numbers. however, it is startling to me how often ppl think they can 'get away' with using the number, considering that its so widely known.

i once passed a homeless man in santa monica...he was holding a sign up on pico near the 405/10 interchange saying "please donate to my 420 fund' or something like that. i had nothing to give , but i rolled down my window and said "hey, dont the cops see your sign and harass you?"

he just replied: "no, they have no frickin clue!!"

so you wouldnt be the only "naive " person out there.

the user quikjl seems to have a few things to say about cannabis, perhaps he will weigh in on this debate about why/how a political scandal could grow...err, i mean , unfold..
