  •  There's a disgusting anti-gay TV ad (2+ / 0-)

    campaign going on in Colorado.

The commercial shows two gay men sitting across the table from a woman, who is presumably a lawyer.

The couple talk about the various things they want -- making hospital decisions, inheritance etc. and the woman says "We can do that", thumbing through papers that are supposedly legal documents.

Then the ad says gay men and women can have all the "rights" heterosexuals do (via contract), that gays are being "dishonest" and to vote against Referendum I and for the anti-gay-marriage amendment, so that gays can't have "fake marriages" (paraphrasing here, not sure I have the wording exactly right).

The absolute malice of this commercial in its willful lying is unbelievable.

No contract in the world can give gay couples all the same rights (right of spousal non-incrimination is just one example) as straight couples, and the anti-gay marriage amendment, if it passes, will try to undo even contractual partnerships.

Moreover, to suggest that gay people should have to pay many thousands of dollars to a lawyer to get the same protections that straight people get by signing a marriage certificate is jaw-dropping in its mendacity.

I am even more disgusted by the TV channels that choose to carry this homophobic filth even more than I am by the lying assholes who made the commercial themselves.

Help keep America a one party state - vote Republican! (-6.25, -6.92)
