98 was a yawner and the pugs were unorganized.  they had lost a squeeker in 1992 by 6,000 votes (some pugs still believe if dead people in baltimore city hadn't voted they would have won). nevertheless, glendenning was a shoe-in in 98.

the cross tabs in the wash post poll show the dems up in the baltimore suburbs.  I think this is where the election will be won or lost.  I live in west baltimore-just over city line-and we are being bombarded with polls and robo calls and live calls.  I am getting more than one a day--all from the gop and more than I can ever remember.  they seem to be from the steele camp rather than ehrlich--i think many are from outside the state, meaning RSCC. i get mailings from both party--I would say 8 or more expensive 4color brochures have arrived in past 3 months.

It is a two pronged stratgey: depress/supress black dem vote and gotv the white suburbanites.

Where I live happens to straddle the fence between city and the suburbs (cummings and kasemeyer if you know what I mean).
