  •  Good luck down there! (0+ / 0-)

As an adult I live in Seattle, but I grew up in Southern California. I may not be able to vote Californian anymore, but I still care. Cali is a leader and a major power in its own right. Some of the races and measures you guys are facing this year are very important, and I wish you the best.

I just finished filling out my ballot and I'm exhausted.

... took me about two hours to fill out mine. The number of propositions and initiatives is just absurd. It's a horrible way to make laws.

...of having the initiative and referendum as a way for voters to exercise direct democracy is a good one. Some reform would help. First step: no more paying signature gatherers.

          •  Limit the number of initiatives, as well (0+ / 0-)

            Outlaw paid signature gatherers AND

Eliminate the ability of the legislature or governor to put initiatives on the ballot AND

Allow initiatives to only be on November general election ballots in even-numbered years AND

Limit the number of initiatives on any ballot to six.  If there are more than six initiatives proposed, then the six with the most number of petition signatures make the ballot.
