You are a poet and a hero. I hope we'll see you on the floor of the House doing Seussian speeches.  Thanks for your incredibly hard work.

...trying to make a difference, my friend.

The real heroes get up in the middle of the night, strap on body armor, and walk patrol in the 110 degree heat in Fallujah and Najaf, abandoned by their government to a failed policy.

The real heroes charge into burning buildings every day to save people they don't even know.

The real heroes get paid peanuts to teach our kids in delapidated schools without enough books, and precious little respect.

The real heroes are the nurses with too many patients trying to ease suffering and not getting paid what they are truly worth.

The real heroes get up every day and go work hard to give their children a better life than the one they have.

Compared to all of them, I'm just a hack.

And so I strive on to live up to their example and give them the support they need in Washington!

And real heroes stand up to power to give a voice to all of the other real heroes.

...until we make a stand for what we believe is right.  At that moment we all become heroes--perhaps not in the sense of risking one's life, but certainly in taking courageous action.

I emphatically include you and everyone who has supported the many campaigns to reverse the decline of civilization.  But I especially thank you and the other candidates who work so hard for so long with no guarantee of victory, often in the face of formidable odds.  While I'm sure campainging has its rewards, it must be grueling in many aspects.

Win or lose, I favor the existential perspective that regards success or failure in the choice we make for ourselves, not in outcomes.  You've already won in the election that counts.  I salute you.
