  •  dirty tricks in Brooklyn (which thankfully won't (5+ / 0-)

About 6 weeks ago, I received an official letter saying that I was still registered at my old address and needed to vote at my old polling place. Okay, no problem, moved after 2004, hadn't re-registered to the new place yet.

Went in to vote today to find out that I had been purged from the voter rolls (probably after they sent out the letter, which is a tactic used) and needed to vote using a provisional ballot, which I did. Now, the likelyhood that my vote will make a difference here in bright blue Brooklyn is pretty much nil, but I don't know if I can count on my vote being counted anyway, which irks me.

If you can't be bothered to register when you move.

Make sure you've got it right for 2008!

      •  that's not the point (0+ / 0-)

the point is that they sent me a letter, and then proceeded to purge, without notifying me of the purge. A fair way would have been to purge then notify, not to send me a letter saying to go vote at my old place.
