  •  One issue with vote by mail (0+ / 0-)

is that the ballots end up concentrated in one location.   In King County, WA, the number of ballots cast by mail caused confusion in the extremely tight 2005 gubernatorial election.   Election workers had misplaced some boxes of ballots, and then later unearthed them.

When one voted at our local precinct, historically there were enough poll workers and the votes were simply placed in the tabulator as they were cast.   So large quantities of votes were not accidentally misplaced.

I'm sure this could be remedied-  if a good system was in place.   If we switched to 100% vote by mail, then their would only be one system, instead of two.   That will hopefully make things run more smoothly.
