or not Ford could have won which was the question in the other diary. To now bring up this point which wasn't the point being made by the other diarist is what makes it irrelevant. When questioned on whether Ford's personality cost him the race, the response so far has been a) but its a conservative state or b) now to claim that but he helped other Democrats. Both points do no go to the question of whether or not it was Ford's personality that hurt him in the margins in Ford's race (not Webb, not Tester, but Ford).

personality as well as positions.  Personally, I think Ford did remarkably well considering the challenge of being both African American and unwed in a conservative state like TN.  He would never of been my pick but, unable to get your perfect candidate, a pragmatist votes for the party and hopes their choice isn't a total loss.  This being said, nobody can take serious any suggestion that Ford be given a leadership position involving fundraising.  He's just too far off the mark.

Webb and Tester, both campaigns of which I followed closely, were able to land some good punches (through us the general public) that bloodied up their opponents just enough to score.  Unfortunately, I feel in the case of TN, it was Corker who landed some solid blows.  Ford caused himself damage with the press conference confrontation and got slimed with the ad (not his fault).
