    Ha ha.

But seriously, there have been several diaries and numerous comments relating to this.  In the online polls people have posted, Hillary does very poorly.  Even the responses to my own "Dear Hillary" diary (shameless plug) were largely in favor of her not being the nominee.

      Hmm.

Well, this will be a very interesting primary season coming up ...

I would have expected a highly-contested primary race, since Bush cannot run again and it seems like whoever wins the Democratic primary will be in a pretty strong position to take the presidency, unless something pretty dramatic happens to increase the popularity of Republicans in the next 24 months.

However, I'm not sure that there is anyone out there that has either 1) a strong enough base of built-in support and 2) the politics abilities required to beat Sen. Clinton at this game.

Except Al Gore, who has a huge reserve of voter goodwill that he could expend on such a race.

I like Sen. Clinton, but I fear that she might become too strong a contender already going into the primary that she scares other good candidates -- Feingold, Warner -- out of the race entirely.  This leaves us in a vulnerable position, should she be toppled mid-season by scandal.

      Hmm.

Because there is sure to be some, considering her husband's wandering eye.  My concern is not only for the baggage this would bring to a Hillary Clinton campaign , but also what it might say about her image -- constantly willing to accept her husband's dalliances, etc.  It could make her seem weak.
