It's possible for the media to spend years complaining about Dem's tactics because the media isn't 'liberal'.  They are owned by huge companies which are run, largely, by Rep's.  The media mearly plays a cute game of sounding liberal while, actually, running any Dem. program into the ground.  They give inordanently large segments of time to attacks of the program while trying to sound as if they think the program is really an interesting idea.  See Al Franken's "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" for a rundown on how many stories were more favorable to Bush than Gore, in 2000 (of course), and how many times the media beat-up on Gore for "inventing the internet".  They did it, again, with the Kerry goof about the dumb getting stuck in Iraq (not to mention their overplaying of Swift Boat attacks with little fact checking on who was doing the attack and why the attack was nonsense).  They provide legitimacy to a Rep. attack simply by replaying it over and over, without regard to facts or context, until the public begins to assign it legitamacy.  The Dem's don't help themselves by trying not to play the game of dirty attacks that make-up issues where none exist. The naive bastards really believe that the public is smart enough to see through such tactics.  Ha!  The public believes that Kerry was the coward and Shrub the war hero!  That should tell Dem's something.
