increase in the Pentagon Welfare system, which those who pimp Friedman's ideas have always done. There are huge contradictions in what his alleged disicples say and what they actually do. Newt Gingrich was always the paradigm of neoliberal hypocrisy. His district in GA. always had the largest subsidies to private corporations in the country.

Free market fundamentalism, as it's been practised, has always been reserved for the poor. The rish continue to get subsidies.

When you say there haven't been cuts, I don't have the figures at my finger tip at the moment, but the federal budget is radically cutting the money spent on educational programs such as special education. Now, some of those ed dollars are being redirected to testing services and such.

As far as Bush compromising on choice, most of the fed education budget got spent on educating low income and minority parents on the CHOICE component withoin No Child Left Behind.

Don't forget how Grover Norquist characterized the neoliberal movement as being like a glacier.  It moves forward slowly, might even lose a little ground, but keeps going.

It can afford to be patient because there's so much money behind it. They're treating the public like Reagan treated the USSR. They keep throwing money into their think tansk and pread their propaganda with Fox and eventually they'll win.

I love the smell of impeachment in the morning!
