  •  I have the utmost respect for the work you do, (8+ / 0-)

Eve, but the new Congressional term doesn't start for another two months.

Before they can go forward, the new Congress has to organize.

    •  Geekesque, that's right . . . (3+ / 0-)

You said it. But they chose to have a big old Party fight.

Before they can go forward, the new Congress has to organize.

      •  Would you rather (10+ / 0-)

they just fiat-ed someone into the position?  This is standard stuff.  You have to elect those positions.  At a minimum I think that it showed that the democrats can debate something openly and then vote on it.  I really did not see it as some big dustup fight.

Now, if Murtha's supporters get all pissy about the thing next year, then I might agree with the general premise, but for now this is all much ado about nothing.

      •  A group of 230 VERY strong personalties (8+ / 0-)

needs to get organized before they can get anything done.  And part of that organization is establishing a pecking order.

They now have their leadership in place after a mere two days of debate.  Now they can move forward.

It also wasn't much of a fight.  Compared to what Bill Frist and Trent Lott had (Lott never forgives, and knifed Frist in the back) this was a love-in.

      •  What?? They had a vote. Someone won. (5+ / 0-)

        Its over.

Look, things WILL NEVER BE PERFECT, EVER. We have a HUGE improvement to our government effective in two months. Yet, there will always be aspects that piss someone off somehow.

        This diary just seems mopey.

        •  What HUGE Improvement? (0+ / 0-)

The Dems are getting ready to slop at the K Street trough are they not?

How come cutting off funding for Iraq except for force-protection during a withdrawal? How about revoking the Iraq War Resolution and de-fanging the 'Unitary Executive' Bushit?

We are going to be looking at 2008 with two more years of "We've Been Fighting for You!(TM) - Sorry about your money and your kids." We elected the Dems to counter Bush, not enable him.

"Inside Baseball" is just what the blogs do, and I am royally pissed off that one of the first orders of business was getting a K Street drone in the number two slot in the leadership. And there was Rahmbo smiling in the background, another money-grubber sellout drone who hates the netroots.

And my stepson is not even KIA or wounded yet.

The Bushiter's Iraq 2004 - 1268 Dead, about 25K Medivacs and 9000 Maimed... It's the Bushiter Way, wasting other people's money and lives. And it's worse now.

is a huge improvement over the last one. It simply does not get worse than the last one.

            •  You said HUGE, not huge (1+ / 0-)

and they have been telling us what they are NOT going to do for us first and taking care of themselves second.

Although Pelosi has been saying some nice things, like we would be so proud of what went on behind closed doors, we are not seeing much to cement trust. Well, if we would have been proud then they should have opened the doors.

As nyceve said, 'We are waiting' but we are not nearly satified so far... and we are not likely to STFU just because we are told to.

I still have my 'Why Do You Vote for the War, Pelosi?' sign in my garage, because I thought I still might need it, And it looks like I was wise to 'keep my powder dry'.
