to offer financial incentives to citizens who buy cars using clean technology, to help on the demand end of the equation.

those of us who can't afford to drive anything but shitboxes, while we design and install sustainable systems for rich folks who can afford to drive priuses and look down their noses at us.

that was uncalled for, just short tempered today, and probably shouldn't post.

      •  Absolutely ... (0+ / 0-)

100% a believer in providing paths for people to move toward far more sustainable-friendly and reliable transportation in a means that ends up costing less than the previous option. (E.g., help provide a balance for Total Ownership Cost through providing assistance at the purchase price, which can be balanced out through lower operating costs due to better gas mileage and better reliability (meaning fewer repairs).)

Winning the Oil Endgame has a pretty good discussion of how this make societal fiscal sense as good transportation is frequently a key barrier to moving up the economic ladder toward greater stability.

      •  so only rich folks should drive clean cars?? (0+ / 0-)

I never said anything like that.  I would like to see all cars driven by all people to be clean cars.

        •  my point is, a lot of us have never (0+ / 0-)

bought a new car, and probably never will be able to, and you and your citizen came across as fairly elitist. but I did apolagize for my short temper.
