I am frequently amused/disgusted by constantly thinking of this problem/crisis purely in economic terms. but this diary got me thinking....In my work, last year I eliminated about 450+ tons of fossil carbon emissions, and my wife and I on our farm, only generated about 2.6 tons of fossil CO2, while sequestering 300 tons....does this mean someone will pay us?

the time has come the walrus said, to speak of many things....

There are programs already (cap and trade) that would enable you (in theory) to reap a financial reward. Perhaps a tax scheme would enable this as well.  (Thus, perhaps your 300 tons might translate into $1500 of revenue potential that first year under a purchase scheme to cover another's pollution.)
