I used to bike 2 mi each way to work provided it was over 60 and not raining. But now I don't have a job so it's a moot point.

I'm so sorry to hear that.  How are you getting by?

BTW, I love reading your diaries.  I'm a big fan.  My two biggest passions are the environment and healthy eating/lifestyle.

I wish you all the best!

      •  thanks (0+ / 0-)

It's been 3 mos without work now. I'm getting unemployment and today I calculated I've got about $14k in the bank, not counting $9k in savings bonds and $13k in my 401k (which I don't plan on spending but, you know, it's there just in case). So I'm OK short term.

I've been using the time to write a book and to try and overcome my major migraine problems. I've got health insurance via COBRA for a cheap $200/mo and I found a great new migraine doc who I am seeing for the 3rd time on Wednesday. Tomorrow I have a phone interview with a company I'd most like to work for. They used to be my customer in my last job so I already know all of them and they know me. The phone call is about what sort of job I could do for them, and I don't know what to expect.

        Thanks for your kind thoughts.
