    failure' - as in "Most of us recover from the pratfalls of our youth."

    Comedy wasn't the first thing I thought, but then maybe that's just me...

      I didn't see it as comedy either.  Not exactly.  But you have to admit it is funny to fall on one's buttocks.  It was even funny the other day when it was me.  And that is the primary definition.

      When I said "This is like laughing at a pratfall," I assumed that that was invoked the context of physical comedy, which is where to my knowledge the term originated.  Maybe people don't use the term anymore.  I'm glad we cleared that up.

      My apologies to students who took my U.S. Government class in the 90s: evidently the Constitution doesn't limit Presidential power after all. Who knew?
