  •  this is kind of interesting, too (5+ / 0-)

"Price" tells of the classified map laid out at the White House Jan. 30, 2001, carving up Iraq's oil resources.

from a July 11, 2004 book review of HOW BIG OIL FUELED THE NEED FOR A WAR WITH IRAQ in the Buffalo News

I remember Barbara Boxer holding up that map in the hearings. Hasn't been much comment on it since. Video of the incident would be wonderful! I forget what the reply was, if any. I thought it was devastating, as it showed what the goal was - oil.

Maps and Charts of Iraqi Oil Fields

I found this link through a Google search that seemed to imply the map was shown on 60 minutes at some point.  Then there was a discussion, apparently by freepers, about how they were not authentic.  Big surprise there.

Anyway, not sure if this is what Boxer showed.  Dated 2001.

A little more searching turned up this link to a blog entry that says

Cheney Energy Task Force Documents Feature Map of Iraqi Oilfields

          and goes on to say

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, said today that documents turned over by the Commerce Department, under court order as a result of Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit concerning the activities of the Cheney Energy Task Force, contain a map of Iraqi oilfields, pipelines, refineries and terminals, as well as 2 charts detailing Iraqi oil and gas projects, and "Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield Contracts." The documents, which are dated March 2001, are available on the Internet at: www.JudicialWatch.org.

        •  That looks like it, thanks (4+ / 0-)

I remember the "stripes" at the lower left. Probably was on 60 Minutes or some other news program as I remember hearing Boxer ask about it while waving it around. Probably a transcript somewhere, but I just wonder why this has disappeared from the intercourse. Seemed like a bombshell at the time, now nothing.

The thrust of the question was that BushCo already had Iraq carved up for the oil companies in January 2001. Maybe this will get brought up again in the hearings (hint, hint).
