    First off, obviously it was the high court of Vermont, not Virgnia that I meant to refer to in the last paragraph ... sorry, that's what I get for typing this inbetween other things at work.

    Secondly ... she certainly wants an attorney at this hearing and not to represent herself.  It's a criminal matter so she's entitled to an attorney, though she may not qualify financially for a public defender.  I would advise her to contact the Vermont Law School to find out what assistance they may be able to offer, also the sate bar office may run a pro-bono referral program that could be of assistance.  This is probably not the sort of case that the ACLU or some other large organization is going to want to spear head, but the VTACLU office may be able point her in the right direction towards attorneys that may take an interest in helping her out.  I would also encourage people who are in positions of power in many of the larger anti-war organizations, many of whom we know read this site on a regular basis, to see if perhaps their organization may be able to help fund her defense.
