  •  The only thing torture is good for... (11+ / 0-)

    ...is to extract predetermined confessions.  Or so I used to think.  But in the Padilla case, they tortured the guy and could have extracted whatever confession they wanted in a lot less than 4 freaking years.

    But I guess they figured that whatever confession they extracted, it would not hold up in court (unless you are a foreigner held in Guantanamo) since he is an American citizen.

    So why did they spend so much effort into torturing?

    Now we know; so whatever he said could be dismissed since he is now officially insane.

    This is the new Standard Operating Procedure people;

    1. The haul you in.
    1. They torture you hoping to get information.
    1. To erase their tracks, they torture you until you are insane enough that no one will believe you when you testify that you have been tortured.

    All those involved in the torture of Padilla have committed crimes.

    ALL!

    The torturers, the interrogators, the guards, the bureaucrats, Ashcroft, Gonzalez, Cheney, Bush, every one of them.
