I went to brunch and there was a guy who looked like Larry.  I turned to my spouse and said, that guy looks like Larry Kissell.

My spouse said, really?  Who's Larry Kissell?

      Sigh..we live in Illinois.

      :-)

Pre-netroots, chances are, you would not have ever known who Larry Kissell was.

Up with people powered politics. ;)

Netroots really are the 5th estate, and the DCCC still didn't take of business as it should have. I wouldn't known about Larry Kissell or much about Heath Shuler, Jim Loebsack, Kirsten Gillibrand, or Carol Shea-Porter.

My spouse is amazed how much I learned about these congressional races.  Of course, I followed them when I could on C-SPAN while getting ready for work.   Last weekend, we had a guest from Chicago who I met virtually through John Edwards' blog too and she still hangs out the JREGrassroots blog, but it was the first time we had met in person.   She and I were going through the new list of Congressional committees' chairpersons and discussing how the Internet has really put citizens back in touch with politics.

And for me, it all started when I started lurking at a blog http://www.johnedwards2004.com.   It was Edwards' candidacy that lured me and encouraged me to become a netrooter, and his upcoming announcement is sure to inspire me again.
