    unless it springs from personally deep and developed conviction.  He's been through the basic indoctrination and would spend the rest of his life feeling he had betrayed his comrades--unless he is morally compelled to make such a decision.  (I'm not trying to give psychological advice here, just offering an opinion.)

      against it, he would eventually have to turn himself in, he may be discharged right away or have to do a few months in a military stockade, but the stigma would follow him thruout his life, it would be an anchor forever,  finish his time and get out,  I would not recommend anyone plan on making the military a career at this point in time.
