...as a reporter on the internal wrangling within the GOP on Iraq, so keep in mind that as with just about everything he has good sources but he's also pushing an agenda.  And he's long been a bit of a skeptic on the war.  But having said that, I still think he's describing a real concern within the GOP that the war could hurt them as much or more in 2008 as it did in 2006.

...about a month ago, and I thought it was in Novakula's column, that John Warner and Dick Lugar were getting ready to publicly side with Chuck Hagel in calling for a real solution. Did I hallucinate this? Or were they maybe persuaded 'for the good of the party and the president' to hold off until the Decider was dunn Deciderin' on the Iraq Study Group report?
( Isn't that still the official explanation for inertia at the "ranch"?)

has been asking everyone -- of both parties -- to wait until after Bush announces the New Way Forward.

      •  it's certainly possible (0+ / 0-)

I don't remember reading such a column, but the existence of such speculation certainly seems to be well within the realm of possibility.

Remember the 5-part series of speeches Shrub was supposed to give about the war in mid-2005? That worked out so well that the White House dropped the idea in mid-stream.

BTW, I dig your usage of "Novakula!"
