First, let me say that I understand and respect your opinion, but I do not share it.

While I was in the Republican Party, there were many who would much rather lose moderates (RINOs was the term) than keep them and lose the purity of the Republican Party.

You, likewise, would be happy to send Joe Lieberman off to the welcoming arms of the Republicans if it means purifying the Democratic Party.

I remember well the taunts of the conservative Republicans who begged me to leave the GOP because I was a liberal (which I never disputed).

Is there no home for a moderate?

I could go on about the little egomaniac.. but I see your point.  We had a very weak hand to play in the last congress and we despise Bush, so his antics became intolerable.

You're a better man that I for being able to hug that smarmy poodle of a man to your chest.  I may suggest you have a higher tolerance for him because of your former GOP identification.  We can't stand him here. But we did kick him out of the party, and that was something.
Lincoln Chaffee was a good guy.  If we could have traded him one-for-one, that would have been fine. (except now we have both seats in the caucus - so we're better than fine..sort of.)

A nation of sheep will surely beget a government of wolves.
