    but sad that they can't bring themselves to identify as democrats. Personally, I'm not very comfortable with military people identifying with a political party at all, but I think this says a lot about how vilified Democrats are within the military.

      They are refusing to be identified with the Republican party any more. And these are probably almost all hard-core, lifelong Republicans.

      This to me shows that being a public Democrat is less and less impossible in the military; and hopefully shows some softening of minds towards the Democrats in general among conservatives.

      If I were in the GOP, this poll would really freak me out. Soon they may only be left with that freaky Christian base they've continued to cynically manipulate.

      I'm glad for the step into Independent territory; it's one step towards the Democratic party at least.
