I can't offer anything further to this specific instance except more kudos to Spocko ---

But the idea of CyberSLAPP suits caught my attention - and SLAPPs in general.

Here in Illinois - where if wiki is accurate - we do NOT have a state anti-SLAPP provision, we've been bombarded by ads from a thinly disguised corporatist propaganda group going by some silly name like "land of lawsuits" or somesuch.   It's the usual 'trial lawyers are killing America by filing frivilous suits' type of bilge.

I'm generally VERY leery of tort reform - especially things like punitive damage limitations, etc.

However -- this seems like the perfect catalyst to call for some Federal anti-SLAPP statutes.   I would LOVE to hear what the CoC -- given their public views on litigation -- have to say about the door swinging both ways... are frivilous lawsuits only bad when they're initiated by the little guy?

It seems to me -- with a shiny new Democratic majority, this is the type of legislation we all should be interested in getting in front our majority.

If you think about it in terms of the ongoing Net Neutrality battle -- an anti-CyberSLAPP provision would seem to be right at home in such a bill.

I guess everyone's got their own blog now.
