"chauffeured" to school -- we call it "carpooling" out here...

    •  Yeah, we call it "the bus". (2+ / 0-)

And driving a bus does indeed require a "chauffeur's license".

      Heh.

We must never lose it, or sell it, or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.

But I'm not sure the Honorable Mayor ever took his turn driving.

I'm sure the claim is overblown, but I also would not be surprised if the Mayor's staff included a driver who took Nancy to school, among other driving for the Mayor.

There's an article printed all over quoting a neighbor who used to play with Nancy saying, among other things, "I remember we were all in awe of her being the little princess and riding in the open-top cars in the parades. Still, we're can't believe how far she's come."  Little princesses often come with chauffeurs.

My point is, save your ammo for mistakes that matter more, and that we know are wrong.   If the article offends you, blast the offensiveness, not some passing reference which may have a basis in fact.  TH NYT isn't going to care much if Brooks got that wrong in his opinion piece even if it is wrong.
