She's holding the same office Henry Clay, Thomas Brackett Reed, Joseph Gurney Cannon and Sam Rayburn all held.

During her speech she thanked the families of Congress people for supporting them. I've never heard a man do that. And then at the end bringing the children up to be a part of this historical moment and saying "We are doing this for the children."  "In the name of the children, the House will come to order."  Can you imagine a guy doing that?  That is why we have to get more women involved.  As someone pointed out yesterday we still have fewer women in Congress that sit in the legislative bodies of Iraq  or Aftganistan.
I'm a guy and I am really proud of what women have done to bring more compassionate perspective to the deliberations.  And she's right about the children we work for them.

      •  Every Single Candidate, (0+ / 0-)

Democratic, women (our male Governor, too, as well) spoke about the children in one of the last campaign rallies that we saw here in Portsmouth, NH.  It quite resonated--and, to me, was an immensely illustrative difference between the two parties--so I'm glad you reiterate its importance.

Oh, and every single candidate won, including our new, grassroots success story, Carol Shea-Porter.

        Go get 'em, Tigresses!

To announce...that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
