  •  If your going to let down your own (0+ / 0-)

you shouldn't tease.  Say, "I've made a political decision not to seat you," if that is what you are going to do, not "I'll let the court process and House investigation go on, when you've given up the crucial point by saying that the election was certified and the member is seated."

Waffling feels better in the short run, but hurts you in the long run.

    •  The fact is that they set it up so that if (0+ / 0-)

Jennings and others succeed in the legal battles, Pelosi will now be able to seat her because of the inquiry made by Holt and arranged with Pelosi.  They can't seat Jennings right now because the Florida idiots certified Buchanan as the winner.

      •  In practice she's sealed the deal today. (0+ / 0-)

The courts, notwithstanding her comments, are likely to hold that the house has exclusive jurisdiction at this point as they did in CA-50.

        •  Nope the courts are now on notice that (0+ / 0-)

Buchanan has been allowed in without prejudice to their decision meaning that Pelosi will accept their decision should the rule in favor of The People - something that Hastert did and would not allow.

if the first obvious partisanship comes from the Republicans, not us.  Which it will, if we just wait patiently.  And investigate. And propose solid legislation.

      •  The first obvious partisanship came from Bush (0+ / 0-)

in the lame duck session when he renominated Bolton and judges that were already rejected.  His own committee chairs didn't even back him up.

The fire fight is already in progress.

      •  It already has come from them. (0+ / 0-)

They are right on cue and they aren't in control of the message any longer.  Pelosi is cornering them.  The statement on Iraq was just right.  She told the President nicely today to do what we want not what he wants.  When he doesn't, she can now nail him.

ability to control the news cycle.  Remember that they stole coverage of our win by firing Rumsfeld.  But, I agree, what Pelosi said today increases the odds that the perception will be that they were partisan (or in this case, perhaps just idiotic) first.  Still, until that is a wide perception, and not just something we can see, we're better off not being the aggressors on a partisan issue.  The facts are on our side.
