the bush is getting manageable again, perhaps it's time to refocus our efforts.

A call to arms?  If you don't mind using a diary that way, otherwise a post on the Tag Editors Workspace.

I just retagged three that had been added after midnight eastern time. :(

The 2006/2008 issues is already discussed in the Elections section of the TEW. I'm not sure what we should be refocusing on—doing our own rewrite of the tagging tips and presenting it to the site management?—so I'm hazy on the arms you think I should be calling. Given my current lack of understanding, I doubt I'm the best person to write the call. :)

"FAQ" dmsilev (27817) proved that if you want the job done...

No one I've seen here has the ability to change the special pages, I doubt most Front Pagers do.

The future I foresee is this- if people get more comfortable in their skin as Librarians the settled problems will be reduced to a daily few, "O'Reilly" was a dope tonight so those six Diaries and the 2 "BillO"s need fixing.

What won't happen without nagging (sad to say) is a sweep of dead orphan tags, including the 'Search' indexes.

So yeah, '2006'?  I'm so up for it.  Do a Centerfielder.  State your case and put up a goal.

Be the change you wish to see.

It's one of those annoying things that I can live with.

I have to say, though, that the dead orphan tags are an increasing annoyance, when I realize I've tried to clean three bad tags in a row, and none of them have associated diaries.

Is the dead orphan tag sweep something we can request be allowed as part of DKos 4.0? Or that the process that deletes diaries deletes their tags automatically?

new "bush" tags and I fix and leave comments and we get down to one or two or so a day, and I get to work on the back log for a while, then wham - you get a string of days with 20 new ones again.

It takes constant reminding in the diaries.  The majority of the site don't read "tag" diaries.

in the 24 hours before I posted the Top Comments diary with tagging as the subject on Wednesday. I'd keep knocking 'em off, and they'd keep putting new ones back up.

The more those reminders get posted in regular diaries, the more people are made aware. Whether they remember is another thing entirely, but some do, which saves us time later on.
