What do you think of  There are tons of soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen who put their addresses and wish lists there.  I've seen more than one post that says they enjoy the care packages a lot, but they really love the letters and anything that reminds them of home, such as newspapers, magazines and such.

    •  Sheez, I forgot about them! (8+ / 0-)

Michael (my son) tells me some of the guys think asking for mail via is being "weak".  But the same guys will do almost anything to get a chance to read over your shoulder.  Don't worry - their officers know who is and is not getting mail, and who very much needs to get some mail - if we sign up with anysoldier or just send to Any Service Member, the officers will dole them out as needed.  Like vitamins to a starving body.

and read the entries where they said everyone was required to assemble for mail call and there were soldiers that hadn't received even so much as a bill in months of deployment, my heart broke. Can you imagine that? Not only not getting any mail, but everyone else knowing you don't have any mail. Ever. And then watching the lucky ones. Or being one of the lucky ones trying to enjoy your little piece of home and not making your buddy feel worse?

That's what got me started sending packages.
