  •  I shed not 1 tear for these people at gitmo! (0+ / 0-)

Gitmo is not a normal situation perpetuated by not normal circumstances.

I dont see any other kind of people in Gitmo, except people who were training to kill and cause suffering and misery to other people all for the sake of an ideological religious belief.

They can stay and rot as far as Im concerned, as for their treatment in there?

Why do we take everything that some former interns there say about their treatment as gospel?

I for one have no doubt about the kind of pity and humane treatment these people would have dished out to "non believers", they were trained not just to kill but to do so with the greatest amount of suffering for the "infidel", and to show absolutely no remorse, since of course they were doing Allahs will.

From what I see at the moment they are being treated no less than some violent criminals in jail.

As long as they are locked up, that means less fanatics on the run, and I dont care to do so at the expense of some ideological "humane=justice=compassion" etc, that is just another weapon that these people use against us.....our compassion.

These are not normal ciscumstances, they are not your average joe who was just sent there for their beliefs.

I personaly dont extent compassion to some one who is trying to harm and kill my family for no other reason other than because I dont "believe".

If and when they change and prove thus by their actions then I would be the first one to come to their defense.

    •  I don't believe you for one second. (0+ / 0-)

You have been drinking the killer Kool aid.

are you aware that nearly half the Gitmo population by some estimates, have been released by the US Army after several years when: it was sort of obvious they were rendered to Gitmo for "bounty money",or had no connection with any terrorist that was credible. That after 3 or 4 years of no status, no trial, no real process...

Of course your comment shows your fear of a sheepherder or  chance individual is much greater than any reason would allow. But that's your problem.

Bush set up Gitmo so it could be used for storing several hundred people in a hurry and he could point to it and say "See/ I am keeping you safe!" look at all those people I locked up there and threw away the key!" A PR stunt-that's all.

When the population dropped...and habeus corpus cases made some headway...and calls came from Congress to shut it down...he then placed 14 "high value" detainees there a few months ago.
Think: If he needed to place 14 "HIGH VALUES" there just now, what does it mean the 400 plus left there were???  low value?  Duuuuh!

Once you hit 11%, you are at rock bottom. To go any lower, you must crawl underneath it.

      •  I have to disagree through the murkyness of this. (0+ / 0-)

You make some valid comments as to some possible motive to have Gitmo as a "showcase" of Bush looking like he is doing something.

But one thing does not change:
The calibre of the inmates, that to me is central to this whole issue, some were released others are still there.

In due course they will have their day.
They weren't just picked up of the street in some New Jersey suburb.

They were caught fighting with a group of people hell bent on destroying us.

You can argue the legality of this, I particularly dont care for it, from me they will get the simpathy they deserve......none.

I would sit outside a court 24/7 and petition the authorities for justice if these people were in there simply because of their beliefs.

But they are not, I neither trust them, or their motives, I neither trust their intentions, and I trust none of what they claim.

They use our compassion, our sense of justice and our humane inclination against us. They simply play us for the fools they truly believe we are.

What is worse, they are fully convinced that they are doing this for righteousness sake.

Yes there is lots of politcs in this, the situation is politicised on both sides.
