  •  Mr Vilsack (14+ / 0-)

The extra infantry are already arriving in Baghdad. The initial battles in the Bush Offensive have already begun just outside the Green Zone. Bush just went ahead and did it already.

He needs to be removed from office. That's all. He's insane.

    •  Agree, but this is one way to get that done. (1+ / 0-)

I believe he has to be held to account and not allowed to run over the Constitution and the will of the people and get away with it.

But how do we demonstrate to those in DC with the power to apply the Constitutional checks that the people want them to do so?

By lobbying our reps there. By making the arguments in print, in person, and online in whatever forums we have available to us.  And... by raising the issue locally.  Our local and state representatives can, in some ways, be more responsive to us.  We can influence people and be effective organizers better in our own communities than we can in a diffuse national movement.  When state and local officials feel the heat on this issue from constituents, their combined voices can amplify our own.

We have one other check on executive power under our Constitution, and that is federalism.  Local and state governments.  All elected officials, at all levels, must be persuaded that the people want them to exercise whatever power they have, whatever influence they have, to stop this.

      •  That was the message of the election (0+ / 0-)

That the people want out of this mess... and not years from now. Those in the Congress need to do something now not wait until there is an even bigger voice...how big is big if Nov 7th was not loud and clear? The answer was handed to them...they knew what the question was... so why does there need to be any more debate? They just need to do something now.

Bush is wiping his ass with the Constitution... and all 300 million could be telling him not to do something and he would still ignore them. He is intoxicated on power and needs to be sent to rehab now... not later.
