Iran's military capabilities when you say Patriots are needed to defend against airplanes. If there is an engagement with Iran it will be in the form of a direct U.S. attack and they will remove all aircraft and military airports and radar in a matter of hours. They probably couldn't get all the missiles and that is what the patriots are for to protect U.S. troops in Iraq, Iraqi oilfields, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Kuwait.

This will not, however, accomplish regime change. They may be content, however, just to denuclearize and demilitarize Iran and then sieze the oilfields and hold them hostage.

If this happens it will be before Blair leaves office and will be 'provoked' by intelligence about Iran acting in Iraq which will be at least exaggerated and closer to nuclear capability than they likely are.

I am guessing, of course, and hope that I am wrong, but I cannot help thinking that the ISG came into being for a reason and that reason was elite and internal military doubts about were things were headed (other than downhill within Iraq).

We have only just begun and none too soon.
