Aside from Nifong's flagrant disregard for the players' rights, is that the Right would have you believe that these were the only three Americans to be victims of a miscarriage of justice.

I'm reminded of a comment by Geoffrey Fieger, a defense attorney here in Michigan, about O.J. Simpson: "Every day, people are convicted on the basis of one-tenth the evidence against O.J."

"Representative government and trial by jury are the heart and lungs of liberty."--John Adams.

Nifong was censured by his peers is because legislators were threatening oversight legislation for prosecutors.

Prosecutorial misconduct is never punished and they don't want any precedents that say otherwise.

I'm hoping that the lawyers lodge an ethics complaint with the bar association against Stimson.

On the other hand, for someone with his resume to make a gaffe like this suggests that these people are starting to see the writing on the wall.

"...suggests that these people are starting to see the writing on the wall..."

Does this mean Stimson is hoping for a mistrial, so that the cases will actually be thrown out instead of yielding trials that only further embarrass the administration?

Or does it mean he is trying to stage an "oops" moment so that he can cut and run personally, and just have done with it?

Or does it mean he is trying to throw a rock through the window of our legal establishment, hoping they will snap back not at him but directly at the administration?

Or does it mean that he considers himself a goner anyhow, so what the hell difference will a little gallows humor make?

can expect their rights, as defendants, to be upheld on the Right Wing radio circuit. Those people are the Friends of the Right. I know I may sound paranoid. The same is true of all "partisans".

Miscarriages of justice only occur when "respectable" people are accused. Our friends are always respectable, therefore they cannot be impugned with impunity.

This is why I don't have many friends, I guess.
