But it's success when the lines we pursue here spill out into the traditional media to the public.

I was absolutely delighted when the New York Times and the Boston Globe got around to picking up the Gannon story when I was working on it in diaries here.

It doesn't matter who gets there first. What matters is getting the information out to the public. We can begin things here -- get buzz going -- but face it, it's largely preaching to the choir. Getting it out where thousands of people who've never heard of Daily Kos can read it is what matters.

...that particular diary still contains a lot of information not out in the general public, or even widely known here, which has genocidal implications for the Sunnis and which will never be covered in the msm.

More important, the killing has already started in Baghdad and Diyala, and as long as the victims are safely labelled 'insurgents' with no questioning of whether the dead have been caught in the 'going Darwin' net then we are all complicit through our ignorance for each innocent's death.

Entire villages in Diyala have emptied themselves of all adult males over 16 to avoid being caught up in the meat grinder. They've all been labelled as 'insurgents' for hiding from the American-Shia 'security forces'.

Real Iraqis, real death, and cold comfort that a limited, sanitized version in the msm occaisionally bubbles through.

p.s. When McClatchy reporters ask and then report the answer to the question 'how do you know all fifty dead were insurgents', each and every time such figures are reported, then I will be the first and loudest to sing their praise.

      •  Define "Insurgent" (0+ / 0-)

What the hell is an Insurgent, anyway?  What does an insurgent fight for?

Unfortunately, my gut feeling is that all the so-called "insurgents" are religious jihadists, fighting for their beliefs against the other religious jihadists in the next neighborhood.  The only difference between an insurgent and a supporter of democracy is who the US has decided to back that day.  Another reason why we need to get our people the hell out of there.

Let the Shiites pay for the American mercenaries out of their own pockets and bring our military home.

Chairman Conyers, you may call your first witness.

But also asserting right to go after any killers of Iraqis or Americans, what gives? I also notice how no one will come out and say we will not pursue into Iran. Is that because we already have? And whose is this plan? Rice says the Baghdad plan is his! But it wasn't his on November 30th! Like all the other gambles in this horrible mess, this seems doomed from the first sputter of the microphone Wed. eve.
