  •  My grandparents all survived the Holocaust (11+ / 0-)

For these assholes to invoke the Holocaust in so callous and craven a way is an offense to their memory. It cheapens everything my grandparents endured, as well as the deaths of 70% of European Jewry.

    •  Holocaust denial (5+ / 0-)

is one of the most insane things that I've witnessed in this world, and that's saying a lot.  I simply don't understand how it can even be perpetuated from a logical, let alone ethical and human standpoint.

    •  Please don't misunderstand this... (0+ / 0-)

My family is Jewish, and with the genealogy research I've been doing lately, I am very mindful of the horrors of the holocaust.

That said, I think the diarist's description is off-base (this is based solely on what's quoted above, not on the original sources at the links.) I am unable to equate this (emphasis mine):

Cullen’s call for decertification of TV weatherman [sic] who do not agree with her global warming assessment follows a year (2006) in which the media, Hollywood and environmentalists tried their hardest to demonize scientific skeptics of manmade global warming. Scott Pelley, CBS News 60 Minutes correspondent, compared skeptics of global warming to "Holocaust deniers" and former Vice President turned foreign lobbyist Al Gore has repeatedly referred to skeptics as "global warming deniers."

with an attack on Holocaust survivors. I think the writer of that quote misunderstands the comparison, which was meant to say that denial of global warming is bad science just as much as denial of the Holocaust is bad history. Perhaps the misunderstanding was deliberate. Even so, I don't think the Holocaust survivors are attacked in any way by this.

      Lying about WMDs changed everything.

      •  I didn't take the time to make that connection (0+ / 0-)

clear (the hazards of late-night/early-morning blogging).

If you follow through to the whole release (assuming the website comes back up), there's a second-level set of references beyond the Holocaust-deniers/"bad-science" meme.
