I finally saw Who Killed the Electric Car? Knowing that the technology was not only out there, but existed in nearly mainstream form for many months gives one hope. Until you find out what they did with those cars in the end, and the means which they set about accomplishing those ends. Not just GM, but also Honda. Even my wife, who is a little more politically passive, got stirred up watching this movie.

We saw that movie last summer and thought it was excellent.  I had no idea about that whole story.  Now GM has a prototype plug-in hybrid, did you hear?  If they hadn't crushed the EV-1 program, imagine where they would be right now.   People were fighting to keep the product alive and that was in the 90s.  Imagine what the demand would be now.  GM, fools, had quite a head start and they blew it.  Well, to be fair, as we know, they had a lot of help with that.

Incredible story.  Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it.

      Here's the info on imdb.com:

It's available on DVD and lots of information about it via Google.

... about not advertising on programs with controversial content when they pulled their advertising from Air America Radio.

What really pissed me off, is that during the 06' pre-election run-up, G.M. ran a huge car give-away promotion on Hannity, giving away something like 7 cars! The promotion ran for three months.

I wrote G.M., telling them, that me, and my family, would never buy another G.M. product because of this. They wrote back with the worst bunch of poor excuses and b.s. I've ever read. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing. Screw G.M. Fascist, anti-union corporate bastards.

Funny though, it lines up with G.M.'s many bad decisions, in that the Repugs got trounced. LOL!!

      •  Actually, they're talking about bringing it back (0+ / 0-)

They unveiled a new electric car at the Detroit Auto Show.

a new prototype plug-in hybrid.  If it's the one I saw a picture of in an article, it is nothing like the EV-1.  They may have been able to use some of the technology from the EV-1 but I wonder if there was anything left to use, after the way they scrapped the program.
