    •  I think so (0+ / 0-)

but I don't remember where I read about it, so I can't provide the source unfortunately. But in Britain it certainly is increasing, the the point where we have schools around the country accepting hand-outs and packets on how to teach Intelligent Design in Biology. That never used to happen.

We have lots of church-goers in the States, but I do think overall people have become more liberal.  For example, when I started my career, which was only 15 years ago, there was blatant discrimination against women in the workplace, even though it was illegal.  There is still discrimination, but less socially acceptable so it happens both less and is more subtle.
Also, until 10 years ago you hardly ever saw openly gay people on TV.  Now it's totally normal.  It doesn't mean they're not discriminated against, and stereotyped, but exposure is a major step towards normalization.  Kids are even taught in public schools that it's ok to be gay, or have gay parents.
I wonder how much of the christian revival in Britian has to do with fear of ethnic and religious minorities growing?  Immigration is something Americans are used to, but seems like a number of European countries are having a hard time with it.

        •  Well, all that certainly sounds promising (0+ / 0-)

although there is certainly still a long way to go. I can safely say that from this side of the pond, America certainly doesn't look to be getting any more "moderate"...
