  •  Smearing Joe Wilson was always a red herring (3+ / 0-)

intended to redirect attention from the real issue, which was the outing of his wife. While in and of itself, whether or not Wilson was telling the truth about why he was sent to Niger and what he found there was certainly important, it was utterly immaterial with regards to his wife's being outed--which is what this scandal is, was and always will be about.

Let's not forget about that. A CIA agent was knowingly and intentionally outed by an administration hell-bent on smearing her husband, and WHY it did this is far less important than WHETHER it did this--which it clearly did, as anyone with half a brain realizes.

For good reason, the GOP often is called "the stupid party." -- Bob Novak

    •  The WHY: far less impt., but lots more fun! (3+ / 0-)

      CAUTION: affix tin-foil hat now!

      Hi, I'm centerline and I'm a Plame addict :-)

Actually, I'm in recovery now, but for a while there I was HOOKED!  It started with the revelations of Plame's CIA front outfit, Brewster Jennings and quickly led to Sibel Edmonds.  Once I got a hit of the Edmonds story there was no turning back.  Next thing I knew I was mainlining shady details about Marc Grossman and AIPAC and a shadowy global network of black market trade in drugs, weapons, etc.  At one point, I scored some real gold from an interview with Edmonds in which she discusses "following the money" and says, "And this money travels. And you start trying to go to the root of it and it's getting into somebody's political campaign, and somebody's lobbying. And people don't want to be traced back to this money."  Unfortunately, I overdosed not long after upon reading that some of the 9/11 hijackers were spotted on a SunCruz Casino gambling boat and that SunCruz was owned by Jack Abramoff.

Like I said, I'm in recovery now and feeling much better.
