    However, I am not sure there is a direct corrolation between government participation and editing to eliminate less than "desirable" information.  

    Most information is tinged with bias, of one kind or another.  Even in the "hard" sciences entrenched positions keep new information and theory from having it's day in the sun - at least until the old war horses pass beyond.  

    But, in this case, there should be some penalty for eliminating facts, particularily when done in an obvious attempt to modify an agency's profile to bring it in line with current dogma.
